NEW BRITAIN - A 22-year-old woman was charged with a $125,000 bond on Thursday morning, due to her arrest warrant that alleges a stabbing of a 21 year-old Connecticut resident.

Natalia Chorostecka, a New York resident, faced a judge at New Britain Superior Court this past week. Pleasing guilty to a second degree assault, Chorostecka faces up to seven years of prison, with a period of three years probation.

“Please note that you [Chorostecka] have admitted to the act of second degree assault with the use of a weapon, under the state law of Connecticut,” Judge Joan Alexander states.

Hartford attorney Kristen Coffin, was present on Thursday morning to defend Chorostecka’s case. “Your honor, I would like to note that my client will be in need of consistent medical attention once convicted.”

The 22-year-old suffers from Crohn's disease, severe anxiety and excessive substance abuse. Attorney Coffin continued to make it clear to both the jury and rest of the members in the courthouse, that Chorostecka’s mental and physical health needs to be watched carefully once she surrenders.

“Both my client and I are highly concerned for her medical needs and attention,” Coffin states. Judge Alexander granted the request of active medical supervision towards Chorostecka once convicted, as well as once she is released.

“Your client must take classes for treatment towards aggression and substance abuse, as well as weekly therapy for both anxiety and depression…in addition to random drug testing,” Judge Alexander states.

Chorostecka will be held accountable to oblige to the court’s decisions of treatment and drug testing during the window of her three years of probation. The 22-year-old is scheduled to surrender during the month of November under Connecticut law.

If Coffin’s client maintains appropriate behavior during her sentencing, she can be released the earliest as of three years, in addition to her three years of probation once released.

There was no word from the victim at this time.
