Spring Break is less than a week away for Central Connecticut students, and it is safe to say that this upcoming week of no classes will either be spent somewhere warm or in the comfort of your own bed. If you have some leisure time to kill, here is a list of some television shows that are worth binging the week away.
1. Parks and Recreation
"Parks and Recreation" is a happy-workplace comedy that is centered around the adventures of Leslie Knope and her co-workers as she tries to make her small town a better place to live. Travel to the fictional city of Pawnee, Indiana and meet characters such as Ann Perkins, Andy Dwyer, Tom Haverford and the one-of-a-kind Ron Swanson, as they go about their daily lives in and out of the parks department. With seven seasons coming to a total of 122 episodes, you can surely occupy your time with some classic comedy.
2. Black Mirror
You might want to call a friend over for the Netflix original "Black Mirror," because spooky is definitely an understatement. This anthological series is incredibly dark and thought-provoking. With a new story each episode, this reworking of "The Twilight Zone" taps into the collective unease about the modern world. If you're one to be drawn to dramas that are sharp, suspenseful and nerve-wracking, "Black Mirror" is a perfect fit for your binging marathon with a total of four seasons.
3. Gilmore Girls
Have you ever thought to yourself, 'Life is too stressful and I still wish it were still 2005?' If so, "Gilmore Girls" is the perfect solution to your problem. This series follows mother and daughter Lorelai and Rory Gilmore as they journey through the ups and downs of life, love, school, work and everything that lies in between. The supporting characters in the small town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut, are very much entertaining and interesting. "Gilmore Girls" is a feel-good show, and after watching the close bond between Lorelai and Rory, you will be rushing to call your own mother. If you manage to make a dent through the seven seasons of this show, you could even start the follow-up Netflix original, "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life."
4. Supernatural
"Supernatural" is a show that never dies. Starting back in 2005, this 12 season series is still going strong with its newest season. Follow the two brothers Sam and Dean Winchester as they travel the county killing ghosts, demons, vampires and everything else that goes bump in the night. If anything supernatural (hence the title) is your interest, this show is right up your alley. Seasons one through 11 are available on Netflix with the newest episodes airing on the CW Network.
5. Grey's Anatomy
Last but not least is "Grey's Anatomy," a definite crowd favorite. This medical drama has been around since the early 2000's, focusing on a group of doctors who begin their careers as brand new interns. One of the doctors and the show's namesake, Meredith Grey, is the daughter of a famous surgeon at the Seattle Grace Hospital, where she is currently employed. The show follows daughter Grey as she struggles to maintain relationships with her colleagues and personal lovers, all the while trying to establish her name in the medical field. While currently on season 14, "Grey's Anatomy" is still a binge-worthy show, one that you can easily watch episode after episode without a second thought.
